Case referral charter
To complement their clinical expertise, when dealing with referred patients participating implant practices/practitioners are encouraged to adopt best practice in case administration, such as:
- Patients and referring practices will be provided with details of the implant treatment plan and kept fully informed throughout the treatment programme
- Referring clinicians will be included as far as possible in the implant treatment plan, undertaking the restoration themselves where they are willing and able to do so
- Patients will always be returned to the referring practice following completion of the implant treatment
- Only the treatment for which the patient has been referred will be provided by the implant practitioner, except by prior arrangement with the referring practitioner
- Dentistry which is not directly related to the implant case will only be undertaken with the cooperation/consent of the referring practitioner
